Azure Data Factory & M-Files
In 2011 Cloud computing was one of the hottest buzzwords. It appeared 48 million times on the Internet. Even though bigger companies are more adoptable when it comes to hybrid solutions, small or medium companies have a better usage of all Cloud resources, especially SaaS.
It’s out there and a lot of services are available just click away plus, all are scalable. Modern ways of remote work, freelancing, think fast - slow. Think - Try - Test - Sell in any way you can, to your boss, Ventures, Partners, Customer, to yourself…
There are tons and tons of available resources and services. You can be fast and explore. If you need analytics, machine learning, integration of different systems, just name it, you can find a service in a cloud in a jiffy. If you can’t - that’s your startup idea and GO - do your homework.
We really love M-Files. That’s a fact. It’s our hammer, but we know it’s not the only one. Nobody can survive alone and solve every problem with just a hammer, even Thor would agree on that. Currently our Cloud is Microsoft Azure.
We put ourselfs on a mission to give M-FIles users availability to connect with everything in Azure or trough Azure. Now we will introduce you to Azure Data Factory connector. We have finished an M-Files Logic App, soon there will be also a PowerApp and Flow connector…
Azure Data Factory
More detailed description of ADF you can read here. In short, it can connect to almost every service easily. It has hybrid options so it’s not only excluded for Azure or Cloud services.
We will elaborate all this use-cases more technically with an examples and we will go deeper and explain how you can install and configure ADF on your Azure environment. We have also simplified that, we can install everything on azure with just next next finish. Now, lets mention some use-cases:
The most easiest way to use Azure Data Factory is to backup your data from M-Files to a blob containers. Blobs are almost free and are very good way of storing data.
Once you’ve understood the business needs of your client, very quickly you can produce, in the start up term, an MVP (minimum liable product)- in this case solution. You’ve decided which way to go, your customer agrees and very quickly your customer will see the value. After a while you need to change something or add. Usually it’s simple to do that, but sometimes it requires changing properties or remapping properties to an object. With ADF & M-FIles you can easily get data from properties or an object and then transform or just remap to another property or an object. Here we have a interesting story with our new client and we will share case study how we have used ADF to “clean” M-Files.
Analytics and Reporting
M-Files is an ECM, and the word “Content” in it describes a lot of information. Today, there a lot of tools for reporting and data analytics. With ADF & M-Files you can easily pull you information in JSON format and send to any analytics platform, like Data Lake, or use Machine Learning, or even ComosDB or Mongo DB. Make use of your data for clever business.
With more than 60 connectors for Azure Data Factory, an integration or synchronization with any system is simple and for a very small price. Reliable, Scalable solution is a very good opportunity for everyone who needs to integrate or synchronize systems with M-FIles.
